William Notman (1826–1891) left Glasgow for Montreal under the cloud of financial ruin, but within a decade he transformed his fortunes and the art of photography, earning international acclaim and changing how the camera was understood in the late nineteenth century.
This new publication addresses the history of Notman’s life and work, accompanied by a public lecture by Sarah Parsons.
